At Summit High School, we are committed to fostering a safe and supportive school environment where every student can thrive. Our social and emotional resources help students build essential life skills, including managing emotions, developing healthy relationships, resolving conflicts, and making responsible decisions.
These tools and supports are designed to strengthen school culture, promote mental wellness, and empower students to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
If you have a family member or friend who has cancer you are invited to join with teens on a similar journey.
Join with others who understand your story because they are living it. You will find a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings, learn how to care for yourself, relate better with friends and family, and learn about what your loved one is experiencing.
Teens ages 13-19 REGISTER for the weekly Wednesday 5:00 p.m. Teen Cancer Champions or contact Maya at mrain@cscaz.org to register.
Zoom meetings start February 24 and meet each Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
Northern Arizona Friend,
I send you greetings from the northern Arizona office of Cancer Support Community (CSCAZ). My name is Cindy Payne and I serve as the director for Cancer Support Community in Flagstaff.
CSCAZ is a nonprofit organization with the aim that no one faces cancer alone. Cancer Support Community Arizona’s mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community. With offices in Phoenix and Flagstaff, CSCAZ offers Arizona’s only free, comprehensive program providing emotional support services to community members and their loved ones affected by cancer at any age, stage, and diagnosis.
Cancer Support Community Arizona is thriving in northern Arizona and we hope you will join us today. Don’t face cancer alone. Register at our website http://cscaz.org or email me, Cindy Payne, at cpayne@cscaz.org. We encourage anyone at any age, stage, or diagnosis to take advantage of the healthy lifestyle workshops, educational sessions, resources, referrals, social events, support groups, and other sources of knowledge.
We offer support groups for cancer patients and for caregivers, family members and friends. Knowledge of cancer treatments is shared through educational workshops and seminars and referrals and resources are routinely imparted. Healthy lifestyle workshops on social support, stress, resilience, sleep, wellness, food, environmental factors, arts therapy, exercise and more are offered daily via a zoom platform. Learn more about the workshops offered on the monthly calendar posted at http://cscaz.org in the northern Arizona tab program calendar. Programs are designed to boost your immune system, increase feelings of hope, control, and connection – ultimately improving your quality of life. Our services are always at no charge to those affected by cancer and their loved ones and during COVID-19 they are offered virtually, meaning in the comfort of your own residence.
I look forward to hearing from you and meeting you soon, Cindy Payne

So that no one faces cancer alone.
Flagstaff Unified School District (FUSD) partners with local mental health agencies to help students access essential behavioral health services. In 2020, the Arizona Legislature passed Jake’s Law, which established a fund to ensure that uninsured and underinsured children can receive behavioral health support when referred by an educational institution—commonly known as a school-based referral.
Through the Community Mental Health Block Grant, the following local agencies provide services to students referred by FUSD:
The Guidance Center

Southwest Behavioral & Health Services
