Physical Education at Summit High School is designed to equip students with the knowledge, habits, confidence, and motivation needed to lead healthy, active lives. Our courses promote physical competence and a lifelong appreciation for wellness.
Explore P.E.
This course introduces students to proper warm-ups, strength training, core exercises, skill drills, and gameplay. Students participate in various sports and activities such as basketball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and flag football, with an emphasis on developing specific skills within each sport. A strength and core circuit is integrated into the curriculum, with a focus on proper form and technique. Students also learn about the benefits of physical activity and fitness through academic instruction.
Outdoor Fitness
This course encourages students to build lifelong fitness habits through outdoor activities. It includes warm-ups, strength training, core workouts, and outdoor games designed to improve overall physical health and enjoyment of movement.
Health
This class focuses on overall wellness and health education. Topics include stress management, nutrition, drug and alcohol awareness, and the importance of physical fitness.
Nutrition
Students explore the basic principles of nutrition by studying the six essential nutrients and their functions in the body. They also learn practical skills such as reading nutrition labels, calculating calories, and making informed choices when shopping or preparing food at home.
